"Though I love to paint the landscape, in what has been called an 'abstract impressionist' style, these days I am intrigued by what I see on the little streets in La Manzanilla, with its simple buildings of weathered color and texture, and sometimes the contrast of a bright plastic pail or tarp. Other themes are the patterns of a group of beach umbrellas, or a kiosk of bright colored fabrics on display at the Friday market.

The abstract elements of these snapshots, represented simply and directly, are what attract the viewer even before they can identify the subject matter of my paintings.”
