Workshops in Carol’s studio in Vancouver

Are you interested in finding out about the new Open Acrylics? These are acrylic paints that stay wet longer, giving more time to blend and make adjustments.

This weekend, I am offering a workshop in basic acrylic or oil painting (with an emphasis on the traits of the "open" acrylics):

Saturday and Sunday, July 25 and 26

10:00 – 4:00

…. and with email contact for a month after (ie if you want to
email a photo of the paintings you do after the workshop, I will
critique them, and give you ideas as to where to go from there)… This will provide a structure for people to continue their progress without having to attend another class. And it can help you keep up the momentum… (you know how much better you do when you have someone to answer to - I will be your conscience!)

Preparation will be emphasized – choosing a photo to work from, looking for value contrasts to fine tune the composition, using a simple grid to transfer the image to your canvas, setting up your palette, choosing the best brushes to use for the task… all the things that will allow you to "begin with the end in mind".

I will demonstrate my own process – the preparation as well as the actual painting, and then be available to each student as your painting progresses.

We will critique each other's work on Saturday, then start another painting on Sunday. Our goal will be to complete two paintings in the two days.

The cost is $150 tuition - you bring your supplies, with photos to work
from. There will be a small group of mixed levels, with lots of time for individual support; and it will be held at my studio at 1000 Parker St. (near Clark and Venables in Vancouver).
